On The Guest List – Kick Ass With Mel Audible Launch Event

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of attending an inspiring panel with Mel Robbins, Hannah Bronfman and Michael Chernow. It was the Kick Ass With Mel launch event, Robbins’ new audible show which came out earlier that day. (Don’t worry I’ll be linking to the download code below so you can listen to it yourself!)

Throughout the panel and afterwards, when I got to meet and speak to her myself, it was incredibly clear that Robbins just had it. That star quality personality and aura that made people gravitate to her and tell her their innermost secrets. Moderating a panel with fitness influencer and entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman and co-founder of The Meatball Shop and Seamore’s Michael Chernow, Robbins had them spilling the secrets to their success as well as what keeps them up at night.

The live panel was just a small sampling of the magic Robbins’ creates in her book and podcast. She interviews celebrities, entrepreneurs, and other change makers, and always seems to get them to tell the meat of their stories. She was truly a pleasure to meet and to listen to – and I urge everyone to download her new show on Audible and give it a listen, I promise that you will learn so much from the conversations she has with her A-list guests. Before I give too much away, I do want to share some key bits of wisdom that I took away from the panel.

The Question: What do you do first thing in the morning that gets you ready to take on the day?

Mel Robbins: “I’ve created a rule that phones aren’t allowed in the bedroom. I find my mornings to be so much more about me and less about catching up with work and the rest of the world when I don’t reach for my phone first thing in the morning.”

Hannah Bronfman: “I inhale for five seconds and exhale for five seconds as soon as I wake up and right before I go to sleep. This helps me reset my body and mind at the start and end of each day, so that I can take on whatever the day brings me without carrying around yesterday’s worries as well.”

Michael Chernow: “First thing in the morning, I’m humble. I ask God to help me get through the day. I’ve found that surrendering to help first thing in the morning makes me remember that I need help just like everyone else. This way, I can walk into work and be ready to learn, not just teach.”

The Question: What do you wish you knew when you were starting out/what do you have to remind yourself about now?

Mel Robbins: “The messages in your life are contained in your messes. It’s important to remember that oftentimes, you are not only the creator of the problem, but you’re also the solution to the problem. When you respond to life it is so much more powerful than reacting to life.”

Hannah Bronfman: “Time management is key in balancing entrepreneurship and my personal life. Right now I have developed a 15 year plan, but everything on it requires me to be physically present to create the content it requires. For each day I have to plan and schedule everything. Usually, I spend five hours a day creating organic content and three hours a day putting together sponsored content. Despite how it might look on social media, I’m still working normal business hours, despite how glamorous working for myself might seem – the work is still very much a big part of the success I’ve had.”

Michael Chernow: “One thing that I really need to keep reminding myself is to let go. I created my businesses so that I could achieve long-term freedom, but I haven’t seen this reward just yet because I’m always working. I need to tell myself to let go more and trust others to do their jobs so that I can take time off and go on the month-long vacation I promised my wife years ago.”

Stay Classy! xx
