Christmas In New York City Pt. II
As if you couldn’t tell from my last few Instagram posts, I definitely meant what I said about being in love with Christmas in New York City! In between a few stressful weeks of finals and wrapping up the fall semester I managed to take some breaks from studying and spend some amazing days in the city, finishing up the list of festive sights I love seeing each winter. There’s one more week until Christmas and hopefully those of you in the area will be able to use that time to get into the Christmas spirit! xx
1. The Plaza Hotel
The Plaza’s decor is always on point but especially during the holidays the iconic Manhattan hotel is know for its beautiful details. If you walk in through the front entrance you’ll be greeted by the chandelier and majestic tree you see above (not as brilliant as the Gatsby themed tree from two years ago but hey, not much would be able to match that standard)! Don’t forget to head downstairs to the Plaza cafe and the Eloise room– the pink Eloise tree is adorable! Plus the movie is always playing in the back of the Eloise store so you can just take a seat in one of the bean bag chairs and rest for a while 🙂
2. The 5th Avenue Windows
My friends and I decided it would be a good idea to walk 7 miles during our trip to the city (it was basically spring weather, how could we not)? We started over by Lincoln Center, walked through Central Park to the exit that leads out towards the Plaza and from there we meandered down 5th Avenue, passing Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Bvlgari, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston…. etc. etc. The decorations down this street are so gorgeous and extravagant and they are definitely a must-see if you can find the time!
3. Bryant Park
Bryant Park transforms itself into an adorable winter wonderland at the start of December! It brings in a multitude of artisans and delicious food vendors that wrap around the 42nd Street side of the park. It also features the fun tree above, an ice skating rink and a yummy restaurant, Celsius (which has heat lamps above the outdoor tables)!
4. Madison Square Park
Proof that Santa’s Workshop is on 5th Ave and Madison? Probably. These adorable gingerbread houses are actually part of the playground at Madison Square Park under the picturesque Flatiron Building. There’s also an awesome tree decorated with all yellow and different featured art projects that you should definitely check out! It’s super close to Eataly… but there’ll be more on that in my next post 🙂
5. Decor Down Avenue of the America’s & Radio City Music Hall
Casually located down Avenue of the America’s are these awesome larger than life decorations that will be sure to brighten your day! In the background of the second photo you can see Radio City Music Hall in the distance which is known for its Rockettes and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular – which is amazing and if you have never seen it you totally should!
6. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
And, of course, you need to go see the tree at Rockefeller Center when it’s all lit up at night. (Ben and I went on a 68 degree day which was insane and that’s why we’re not even wearing coats!) It honestly was not as crowded as it should have been and we went on a weekend. The tree will be up until early January so there’s definitely still some time to head over and see it!
Did I miss featuring one of your favorite sights? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay Classy! (& Merry Christmas) xx
