Swap Bad Snack Habits For Healthier Weight Watchers Options This Fall

When it comes to planning my meals for the week, I like to prepare one day at a time. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course, snacks. I’ve started making overnight oats for breakfast and mason jar salads for lunch – I’ll be sharing some of my favorite recipes later this week! Dinner always varies, depending on what leftovers I have in the kitchen and what I’m in the mood for, but to me, the most important foods of the day are snacks.

Snacking can actually be really good for you. According to the CDC, “research shows that people get full by the amount of food they eat, not the number of calories they take in. You can cut calories in your favorite foods by lowing the amount of fat and or increasing the amount of fiber-rich ingredients, such as vegetables or fruit. Eating fewer calories doesn’t necessarily mean eating less food.”

In fact to me, it just means eating more foods that are better for you.

I’ve spent most of the summer exploring new and improved healthy snack options and just recently came across some new favorites. If you’ve ever been to my apartment for a movie night or Netflix date, you know that my “cheat treat” snacking staples are popcorn and ice cream. It’s basically a non-negotiable girls night combo, sweet and salty and overall yummy. Unfortunately, it isn’t too good for you!

For my latest movie night (a My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1 & 2 Marathon) I decided to try a healthier version of my favorite snacks from Weight Watchers. I tried the Healthy Pop Butter popcorn and Healthy Pop Kettle Corn, which only have 100 calories per bag and are so full of flavor that you wouldn’t guess it was better for you than regular popcorn!

We munched on this throughout the duration of the first movie – these weren’t the tiny popcorn bags either – and then my craving for something sweet started to kick in. I grabbed my box of Weight Watchers Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Bars and started snacking on one of the tastiest ice cream bars I’ve ever had – and I didn’t feel guilty about it at all. Talk about treating yourself!

These healthier snack options are definitely something I’ll be turning to during my super busy fall semester at school. I grabbed a bunch of the essentials (including the Jolly Pop) from my local Clark Shop Rite (but you can also find Weight Watchers products at Price Rite).

Actually, when you shop at your local Shop Rite this fall between 9/11 and 9/24, you’ll receive a coupon for $5 off your next purchase when you buy $15 worth of Weight Watchers snacks while supplies last. Select stores will also have a sampling event on 9/18 between 10-4, stop by to try great products and get a coupon! 🙂

Stay Classy! xx
