London ’16: The Adventure Begins!

It’s been an exciting past few days! I arrived in London in the morning on Wednesday and have been “bogged down” with jetlag for the past few days. Fortunately I had English Breakfast Tea and conveniently stationed pubs to get me through it!

I moved into my beautiful flat in Kensington, London and celebrated with a delicious dinner of Thai food from a cute little restaurant down the street. Whoever said London was “dreary” and “is known for having the worst food” couldn’t have been more wrong. The food was delicious and flavorful and totally homemade! I’m so happy that it’s located so close to my flat – and also that the U.K. food delivery service is called Deliveroo 🙂

Due to the fact that I will be attending two universities while I am in London, I have not given much time to get acclimated on my own. The past few days have been filled with academic and housing orientations and excursions and my own attempts to explore the city on my own. (One of such excursions being the main grocery store, Tesco… my head is still spinning and I am still trying to figure out what British people eat. But I did manage to get enough groceries to get me through at least breakfast the next few days – plus I’m in love with the low-fat Gooseberry yogurt 😉

I was so excited to find that Kensington Palace is a two-block walk from Fordham’s London campus, it’s gorgeous and so amazing that I will be taking classes so close to where the Royals have lived (and still live on occasion). The Palace Gardens are also incredible and seem like an awesome place to go running, which I plan on testing out tomorrow morning!

My first impressions of London have totally exceeded my expectations. The city is incredibly lush and full of nature; palm tree – looking plants are all over the city and most window sills are decorated with flowers and adorably trimmed bushes. The architecture is gorgeous and full of history. London definitely seems to be a city of secrets like New York, but it has an entirely different energy to it, perhaps it is more proper? Only time will tell I guess, but I can’t wait to find out!

Stay Classy! xx

P.S. I’m still searching for awesome pubs and restaurants to go to in London, so if you have any suggestions please let me know!
