I Do What I Love & I Love What I Do

Can you believe how fast the first weekend of 2016 went by? I feel blessed that mine was filled with great food, my family, friends, boyfriend, and of course champagne and glitter. But the celebrations have died down and school and work start up again today for most — yet a little bit of routine will be awesome for getting into the groove of following your New Year’s resolutions!

I for one am excited about the amazing opportunities 2016 already has to offer. I’ve decided that this year is going to be both HAPPY and HEALTHY. I hit a few bumps in the road last year and I’m totally grateful and excited to turn to a blank page. I’m ready to start 2016 with healthy lifestyle resolutions and challenges that I know will not only make me happier but will also increase my quality of life! I plan on first and foremost doing what I love and what makes me happy.

A few weeks ago I started Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide (BBG) program and it has been kicking my butt (in a good way)! I’m loving the HIIT workouts and stretching routines as well as her healthy meal recipes in the nutrition guide.

I’m definitely going to stick with this! I find myself excited for the next day’s workout and the feelings of soreness after remind me throughout the rest of the day (OK to be real, the next few days…) that I’m putting in the physical work, so I should also put in the mental work to resist the sweets I’m tempted by 24/7. (Kayla does allow one cheat meal per week though… she’s a tough cookie). The BBG community is all over social media, and they are AWESOME and incredibly motivating and supportive!

I’ve also fallen in love with Ellie Goulding’s new album “Delirium” and have been working out to it pretty exclusively (“I Do What I Love” is a fabulous track you should check out!)

I know that a big trend last year was c-runs (coffee runs, except the kind where you chug a cup of coffee before you work out, not where you’re running late to work and need to grab a coffee), but although I do love the caffeine boost I get from coffee, I find that it ends up upsetting my stomach. In forms of “pre-workout” beverages for women I hadn’t been able to find anything comparable to the options available for men. (If there’s any pre-workout powders that you use and love, let me know!) But I have come across one energy drink that I’ve found to be flawless so far!

I’ve seen Celsius drinks on Instagram endorsed by celebrities promoting healthy lifestyles such as Khloe Kardashian and Jillian Michaels and decided to give it a chance. In just the past two weeks I’ve found that I LOVE the drinks and that they give me the kick I need to get the most out of my workouts! I’ve tried five flavors and Raspberry Acai Green Tea is definitely my favorite. I’ve also found that I only needed to drink half a can before each workout and it stays well and the leftover drink can be used the next day! The drinks aren’t carbonated which is awesome and they taste great.

I’m just hoping they sell them in London…

You’ll see why in my next post! 😉

Stay Classy! xx
